Lucky Brand Patch Abbey Road Bag

We are loving this new arrival over at eBags.com, the Lucky Brand Patch Abbey Road:

It’s a crossbody bag slash handbag slash shoulder bag. How great are those options?

Lucky Brand came out with the first edition of this bag sometime 2009 (see our review of the first version here). It looks like it was a big hit because just less than a year later, they launched a new design of the Abbey Road bag. Check out the first version, the Abbey Road, compared with the newer Patch Abbey Road:

The earlier version is decidedly more masculine, with its boxier shape and more somber colors. But even though the newer one is made more feminine with the hearts, flowers, and dove patches, all the great elements of the original are still there: the soft rugged leather, the gorgeous topstitching, and the detachable long straps that allow you to carry it 3 different ways.

Carrying it over your shoulder with the top part folded over shows off the bag’s amazing stitch and patch detail (which also extends to the back), but look how roomy it is when carried as a handbag. You could fit a few days’ worth of groceries in there!

It would make a really stylish grocery bag but a really expensive one too: the Lucky Brand Patch Abbey Road retails for $199.00. Waiting a few weeks for it to go on sale might be a good idea, but if you want to be ahead of the trend curve, you have to pay the (full) price. Sometimes, it’s worth it.

Purchase this bag through eBags.com. Both brown and white colors are available.

Nina Dobrev in Lucky Brand Abbey Road Bag

Upon watching a re-run of the Vampire Diaries’ pilot episode, I instantly caught a glimpse at the messenger style, cross body bag that Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev) was carrying at one scene and it instantly roused my curiosity. At first glance, the bag looks stunning and exudes that rugged, vintage appeal which has been a pretty understated trend in the maelstrom of glitter and glam preferred by most contemporary Hollywood stars.

Soon enough I found myself searching the World Wide Web for the bag profusely, and after a series of neck twisting, to and fro glances at my computer screen and the frozen, paused image on my TV screen, I found out that the bag is from Lucky Brand, and dubbed as the nostalgic, “Abbey Road” bag.

Deviating from the leather cross body handbags of today, the Abbey Road is a messenger style, fold-over bag with dual handles for an easy reach inside its deep compartment. It also has an external zipper pocket to let you get a hold of personal necessities like your cell phone and wallet instantly, without worrying about its safety.

Spacious enough to store your laptop, a copy of your favorite magazine, and even some spare clothes for changing, the depth of this bag’s compartment is formidable. There are also a couple of multifunctional slip pockets inside, as well as a zip pocket to carry your sensitive, female necessities. What’s even better is that this lamb-leather made, stylish bag comes in different colors, like off-white, dune, ultraviolet, bourbon, dusty leather, and even a perforated version to match your taste, however distinct it may be.
