I’m always excited when I see exotics in bags and shoes. No matter how it is incorporated, I always seem to love a bag more if there are hints of exotic leathers in it, even if it’s just embossed or printed.

The Cole Haan Chrystie St. Camille Crossbody has that luscious look of exotic leather, minus the impossibly expensive price tags usually associated with lush leathers. The bag has a snake-embossed exterior and a classic cross body structure that is very easy to love. It also has good storage space inside even if it is just a mini-crossbody.

Despite all the messy situations and controversies this girl has been in, you have to admit that she still has got great fashion sense (most of the time). Lindsay Lohan always throws in some major fashion pieces in her outfits, whether she is wearing casual clothes or red carpet gowns.

In our recents posts, we’ve given you ideas for the coming holiday season. We’ve shown you the ideal color – red – for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we’ve also suggested Marc by Marc Jacobs as a gift idea. On this post, we’ll give you more! Among the new arrivals at Zappos are cross-bodies with flaps and twist-lock closures. Their style and different shades are suitable for the holidays, as a gift for the special people in our lives or for ourselves.

Cross Body Camera Bags Inspired by Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 Collection!

Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2012 collection is probably one of my favorite runway shows in the recent New York Fashion Week. Presenting a 1950s-theme, it had an interesting color palette plus an astounding use of handbags and purses. There were boxy metallic satchels and raffia handbags. But it was the camera bags that were truly eye-catching.

Colored in bold, almost modish colors, these retro-inspired camera bags were hand held by the models as they strut down the runway. One look and it was enough to see that they fit the vintage theme of the Proenza Schouler collection very well. They looked casual and light, absolutely perfect for the spring. I wouldn’t be surprised if a good number of the population started using these camera bags by next year. Look at them, they’re so spectacular! If we can pre-order for these babies like we can their boxy satchels, I’d get right on it.

But while they did have straps, the camera bags didn’t look like they’re long enough to be a cross-body bag. Sure your camera can fit in there but modern cross-body camera bags can do that and more.

Jessica Alba, Working Out a Red Cross-Body

We’re a little late, but we want to wish Jessica Alba and Cash Warren congratulations! The gorgeous Jessica gave birth to their baby girl, Haven, on August 13. She was glowing and still very much a hottie when she was pregnant, and she’s still glowing and almost back to her pre-pregnancy body now, just three weeks after giving birth. How do we know this? Well, we saw some pictures of her taken while she was on her way to the gym.

What do you think of her post-pregnancy shape? Isn’t it pretty amazing that she doesn’t even look like she recently gave birth? She also happens to rock her tank top and red cross-body.

Let’s talk about the cross-body. We like the fuchsia strap and tassels, but the red color of the bag itself is what we love. You might have guessed that we couldn’t help but look for red cross-bodies with different styles.

Olivia Wilde’s Boho + Fringe Love

This week, Olivia Wilde was photographed while she was out and about in L.A. Her pictures tell us one thing: She does love fringe cross-bodies. We saw her in July with a brown fringe cross-body, and on two separate occasions this week, she was again seen with fringe cross-bodies. At first glance, the cross-bodies seem to be one and the same. Upon closer inspection (because you all know we closely inspect cross-bodies around here), the cross-bodies turn out to have slightly different designs. But they’re both boho with some fringe, and they’re both cross-bodies. And we love them both!

Steve Madden Gets in the Messenger Game

A few weeks ago, we featured Cole Haan and its take on the messenger. Looks like Cole Haan is not alone because Steve Madden is getting in the messenger game as well, thanks to the popularity of the PS1. Here’s a fresh piece from the brand called the Steve Madden BBryn Satchel.

Look at the PS1 and tell me it doesn’t hold any resemblance. Notice the front pockets? How about the distinct pull tab straps? It isn’t an exact copy, but a rather close one. The shape and some important elements are there. However, Steve Madden infused a bit of their own style by adding gold buckles, studs, and grommets. They probably did that to keep from being labeled as a copy cat.

Nonetheless, I’m glad they came up with this particular bag. It gives fashionistas on a budget a less expensive option for almost the same fabulous look. It retails for an easy, breezy US$88. Now that’s super affordable.

Of course, given such a low price, don’t expect it to be made of real leather. Steve Madden is pretty well known to offer value for money products so you can be confident that the bag will not fall apart after its first. Grab it from Zappos.

Here’s a bag for women who hate fumbling with zippers, buckles and locks on their bags – the MICHAEL Michael Kors Charlton Cross Body:

Now there’s no way you could miss a a slide lock buckle closure as big as that.

Of course, if you wear it with a onesie or a romper, you’d run the risk of looking like a toddler:

But wear it with anything else and it could really look like an adorable and a playful bag.

This cross body is a little bit on the mini size, but it’s roomy enough to hold everyday essentials like your keys, phone and wallet. It also works really well as an evening bag and wouldn’t look too oversized when worn with a clubbin’ outfit or a cocktail dress.

Here’s it’s real size by the way (the picture above was just an exaggeration):

The cross body strap is 22 1/2 inches long and has a buckle so you can adjust its length.

The black and luggage colors are great for everyday use while I’d choose the gold metallic and vanilla colors to wear at special occasions. But with that jumbo slide lock, this bag is a conversation starter and that makes it perfectly okay to use the the gold and vanilla colors for everyday if you want to.

Willow Smith Whips It with a Printed Crossbody, Military Jacket, and Red Red Boots!

I don’t want to admit it, but I have to. I am slowly becoming a Willow Smith fan. The little girl (she’s only 10 years old!) is a Diva to a T, and I mean that in a good way. She’s got a lot of personality, a lot of spunk, and I can appreciate the fact that she knows what she wants.

Plus, she’s got a really unique fashion sense. I have seen her different looks and although I can’t say I like all of them, there are a good few that are worthy of an applause and attention. Case in point, Willow in this picture:

Check out the mother and daughter wearing matching red boots! Niiiice! I can now see where she gets her love of fashion – from mommy Jada.

But it’s more than just the red boots. I love the military jacket, the striped scarf, the interesting bandanna on her right leg, and of course, the printed crossbody! It’s the whole combination I love. The look suits her immensely. It’s like classic military infused with fun through the printed bag and bandanna.

What do you think? Would you recommend this style to your daughter, sister, or niece? Or would you wear it yourself?

You know, I think I just might. Of course, I’d probably stop at the printed crossbody. I don’t think adults can carry the bandanna; that one is purely and specifically for the very young. Here’s what I came up with:
